Work Allah gave to Human Beings

Hazrat Hasan Basri (R.A.) found Hazrat Rabia Basri (R.A.) sitting by the bank of the river. He unrolled a prayer rug (Janamaaz) , and placed it upon the water, where it remained, without being wetted, solid as if upon the land.
Hazrat Hassan stepped upon the rug, saying, "Rabia', come, let us make prayer in praise of the Most High!".
Hazrat Rabia' picked up a straw mat next to her and, with a quick gesture, unrolled it in the air, where it stayed floating without the slightest tremor. a yard above the ground.
"Hassan," she said, "what you have done, a fish could do. What I have done, could be done by a fly. Let us now be serious, and be about the work Allah gave to human beings..."

The Naked Man

Once, a supposedly mad man lived in a town.
He walked around completely naked.
Some people called him mad, while some would say he is a friend of Allah.
No one bothered him much, as he seemed to be a begger, too insignificant.
Then one day, he came into a cloth shop, took a piece of cloth , and started to cover himself.
The people at the shop asked him, "why are you wearing something after all these years of not doing so?"
He replied, "what to hide from you wild animals, today a real man is arriving in town!" And he left.

(He apparently meant to say that someone of his level or higher is arriving in town, and so he doesn,t wanted to be seen by him naked)

The Secret Teacher

A quote from Idries Shah's "The Secret" in Special Illumination:

Someone asked a self-styled Sufi,"Are You the Secret Teacher ?"

"Yes",he replied.

"But you don't know anything about Sufi teaching."

"That's right-but that is the Secret"

The merchant replied"A plate full of Biryani"

Sufi asked"Only people from Arab eat camel meat and you are not from Arabia, then why biryani came into your mind by seeing the camel?"

Sufi Story No.1

In a small town there was a man who always criticized Sufis. A Sufi pir in the town heard about him and called him.
He gave that man a stone and told him to go in the town market and sell it for ten coins. The man replied that nobody will buy it for even one coin. On Sufi pir's insistence the man tried but nobody purchased it.
Now the Pir told the man to go the nearby city and sell the stone for whatever price he gets. The man came back and told that he got thousand coins in selling the stone which was purchased by a diamond merchant, who told that actually that stone was a diamond.
The Sufi pir told the man “Your knowledge of the Sufis is similar to the town people’s knowledge about diamonds.”
